Save Room for the Matcha Ice Cream at Foodies
If you’re a foodie, you’re going to love the newly opened Foodies restaurant. Owned and operated by a woman chef, Chef Yu, she takes the Spanish tapas-style plates and fuses the concept with Asian-style cuisine. Chef Yu grew up in Northern China, raised by her grandparents who were also chefs trained by their chef parents. Her grandfather’s family owned an iconic dumpling house in Szechuan, so cooking incredible cuisine runs in the family.
Taking the training she received from her family and all the recipes she soaked up over the years, she’s now serving up dim sum, small plates, and traditional Hong Kong-style dishes at her new spot. Favorite plates to start with and share are the pan-fried gyoza, the steamed pork buns, the quail eggs, and shishito peppers. All seasoned and cooked to perfection. Then, for larger plates, try the Hong Kong-style shrimp fried rice or pineapple sweet and sour tofu. If you have a sweet tooth you’ll want to save room for dessert, the matcha ice cream with red beans is delicious!
