Havana Vieja Brings the Flavors of Cuba to South Beach
Open since January, Havana Vieja on Washington Avenue is taking South Beach diners by storm, earning rave reviews for its Cuban eats. This new spot is mostly outdoors and has been praised by some as a retreat that makes you feel like you’re on vacation due to the tropical Cuban decor and overall vibe.
To start off, make sure you grab one of their many mojitos! Favorite flavors are the passion fruit or guava, and each comes topped with a sprig of fresh mint and a stick of sugar cane to nibble on between sips for a little extra flavor. Kick off your meal with an order of the tostones rellenos with shrimp or the ropa vieja empanadas, then move on to the surf and turf with lobster, prawns, churrasco Cubano, and roasted chicken. Their traditional dishes like vaca frita and Cubano sandwiches are also popular. Buen provecho!
